April 16: Iowa reports 13 additional deaths and 468 new COVID-19 cases

EDITOR’S NOTE: The daily numbers that we report do not line up with the numbers the state is reporting for each day. Every day at 10 a.m. we take the previous day’s numbers from 10 a.m. and subtract them with the current numbers from the state at 10 a.m. Rather than reporting a day behind, we wish to give you the most updated information. For Black Hawk and Linn Counties, we are reporting numbers from their county COVID-19 websites. For Johnson and Dubuque counties, we are reporting numbers from the state’s website.

(KWWL) — There were 468 new, confirmed cases from 10 a.m. Thursday to 10 a.m. Friday, according to the state’s dashboard, bringing the state’s total number of cases to 359,145.

The state’s website says that of the 359,145 people who have tested positive, 340,003 have recovered. This is 416 more recoveries than what the state reported Thursday.

The state is reporting 13 additional COVID-19 deaths, with a death toll of 5,870.

Subtracting the number of recoveries (340,003) and the number of deaths (5,870) from the total number of cases (359,145) shows there are currently 13,272 active positive cases in the state.

As of Friday morning, there were 43 patients hospitalized in Iowa within the last 24 hours and the total number of hospitalizations is 226, which is up from 215. Of those, 50 are in the ICU (up from 49), and 19 are on ventilators (same number from yesterday).

In Iowa, there were 2,513 people tested in the last 24 hours, and a total of 1,677,381 people have been tested for COVID-19.

As of Friday morning, according to the state’s COVID-19 vaccine dashboard, 1,897,219 total doses have been administered to Iowa residents and 833,502 individuals have completed the series. BLACK HAWK COUNTY

The Black Hawk County Dashboard has not yet updated. Here are numbers from Wednesday:

As of 10 a.m. Friday, the Black Hawk COVID-19 dashboard is showing 20 new cases since 10 a.m. Wednesday, leaving a total of 16,608 cases. There have been 16 additional recoveries, leaving a total of 14,829. There have been no additional deaths, leaving a total of 306 deaths. In Black Hawk County, 35,931 residents have been fully vaccinated.

LINN COUNTY

As of 10 a.m. Friday, the Linn County COVID-19 dashboard is showing 39 new cases since 10 a.m. Thursday, leaving a total of 20,258 cases. There have been 15 additional recoveries, leaving a total of 18,752 recoveries. There have been no additional deaths, leaving a total of 339 deaths in the county. There are currently 6 patients currently hospitalized in the county. In Linn County, 60,693 residents have been fully vaccinated.

JOHNSON COUNTY

According to the state’s dashboard at 10 a.m. Friday, there are 25 new positive cases reported in Johnson County since 10 a.m. Thursday. This brings the total to 13,997 reported cases. There have been a total of 13,211 recoveries, 6 more reported than yesterday. There was one additional death reported, leaving a total of 81. In Johnson County, 47,745 residents have been fully vaccinated.

DUBUQUE COUNTY

According to the state’s dashboard at 10 a.m. Friday, there were 18 additional positive cases reported in Dubuque County since 10 a.m. Thursday. This brings the total to 13,127 reported cases. There have been 6 additional recoveries reported, leaving a total of 12,341. There were no additional deaths reported, leaving a total of 202. In Dubuque County, 28,427 residents have been fully vaccinated.
