Waterloo 6th grade teacher wins ‘Tools for Schools’ award!

WATERLOO, Iowa (KWWL) - One lucky Eastern Iowa teacher has one the 'Tools for Schools' award!

Jane Whitehead is a 6th grade English and language arts teacher at Blessed Maria Assunta Pallotta Middle School in Waterloo.

Whitehead told KWWL she wants to use her grant money towards educational apps for her students.

Teaching in the age of technology and COVID-19, Whitehead has notcied the benefits of the apps in her classroom, and hopes having better access can enhance her students' learning experiences more.

"The variety of apps I think students enjoy Cahoot, or Jeapordy, I think it adds that element of education along with making it enjoyable, making it accessible, " Whitehead said.

The 'Cedar Valley Tools For Schools' Program is a partnership between KWWL and Green State Credit Union.
