April 2: Iowa reports 612 new COVID-19 cases and 8 additional deaths

EDITOR’S NOTE: The daily numbers that we report do not line up with the numbers the state is reporting for each day. Every day at 10 a.m. we take the previous day’s numbers from 10 a.m. and subtract them with the current numbers from the state at 10 a.m. Rather than reporting a day behind, we wish to give you the most updated information. For Black Hawk and Linn Counties, we are reporting numbers from their county COVID-19 websites. For Johnson and Dubuque counties, we are reporting numbers from the state’s website.

(KWWL) — There were 612 new, confirmed cases from 10 a.m. Thursday to 10 a.m. Friday, according to the state’s dashboard, bringing the state’s total number of cases to 352,262.

The state’s website says that of the 352,262 people who have tested positive, 334,006 have recovered. This is 492 more recoveries than what the state reported Thursday.

The state is reporting 8 additional COVID-19 deaths, with a death toll of 5,751.

Subtracting the number of recoveries (334,006) and the number of deaths (5,751) from the total number of cases (351,650) shows there are currently 11,893 active positive cases in the state.

As of Friday morning, there were 40 patients hospitalized in Iowa within the last 24 hours and the total number of hospitalizations is 204, an increase from 194 hospitalized the day before. Of those, 43 are in the ICU (up from 41), and 19 are on ventilators (up from 15).

In Iowa, there were 2,741 people tested in the last 24 hours, and a total of 1,643,832 people have been tested for COVID-19.

As of Friday morning, according to the state’s COVID-19 vaccine dashboard, 1,494,043 total doses have been administered to Iowa residents and 616,065 individuals have completed the series. BLACK HAWK COUNTY

As of 10 a.m. Friday, the Black Hawk COVID-19 dashboard is showing 19 new cases since 10 a.m. Wednesday, leaving a total of 16,381 cases. There have been 16 additional recoveries, leaving a total of 14,652. There has been one additional death, leaving a total of 301 deaths. In Black Hawk County, 26,605 residents have been fully vaccinated.

LINN COUNTY

As of 10 a.m. Friday, the Linn County COVID-19 dashboard is showing 28 new cases since 10 a.m. Thursday, leaving a total of 19,954 cases. There have been 15 additional recoveries, leaving a total of 18,585 recoveries. There have been no additional deaths, leaving a total of 335 deaths in the county. There are 10 patients currently hospitalized in the county. In Linn County, 45,368 residents have been fully vaccinated.

JOHNSON COUNTY

According to the state’s dashboard at 10 a.m. Friday, there are 20 new positive cases reported in Johnson County since 10 a.m. Thursday. This brings the total to 13,595 reported cases. There have been a total of 13,063 recoveries, 15 more reported than yesterday. There was one additional death, leaving a total of 79. In Johnson County, 35,897 residents have been fully vaccinated.

DUBUQUE COUNTY

According to the state’s dashboard at 10 a.m. Friday, there were 27 additional positive cases reported in Dubuque County since 10 a.m. Thursday. This brings the total to 12,784 reported cases. There have been 10 additional recoveries reported, leaving a total of 12,242. There has been one additional death reported, leaving a total of 201. In Dubuque County, 22,043 residents have been fully vaccinated.
