DUBUQUE, Iowa (KWWL) -- In an effort to help mitigate the spread of COVID-19, Dubuque Community Schools will hold outdoor graduation ceremonies this year.
Graduation ceremonies will be held on Saturday, May 29 at Dalzell Field in order to provide additional capacity and also maintain social distancing. Dubuque Senior High School's ceremony will be held at 10 a.m., and Hempstead High Schools' ceremony will be held at 3 p.m. The district will use Sunday, May 30 as a potential rain make up day.
Each graduate will receive up to eight tickets. The ceremonies will also be livestreamed for family and friends unable to attend the ceremony in person.
Superintendent Stan Rheingans says additional details about logistics, safety protocols, and ticketing will be shared as planning continues.
