Iowa’s Ride reduced to weekend event in Eldora

ELDORA, Iowa (KTIV) – Organizers are modifying Iowa’s Ride into a weekend event that will take place in Eldora.

According to the event’s website, the ride is now called “Iowa’s Ride Weekender” and takes place from July 16 to July 18, 2021.

The announcement states the change was because several small community schools and city facilities were not comfortable opening their facilities throughout the summer.

Due to the ride being mainly in smaller communities, organizers say there were not many suitable options to safely camp other than school grounds or city parks.

Though organizers say they were able to secure some alternative locations, they ultimately decided to modify the event.

The event will have a designated 40 to 50-mile route on Saturday and several riding options available on Friday and Sunday.

If you were previously registered for the 2020 ride, there are no registration fees. If anyone would like to still register now, it is a free entry.

Iowa's Ride was formed in 2019 when RAGBRAI's staff quit after a fallout with the Des Moines Register. Similar to RAGBRAI, Iowa's Ride was canceled in 2020 due to the coronavirus pandemic.

RAGBRAI will be continuing in 2021 from July 25-31.
