TAMA COUNTY, Iowa (KWWL)- Meskwaki Nation Police are asking for the community's help in identifying two phone numbers they believe could be connected to the disappearance of a Meskwaki woman in 2015.
Rita Papakee was last seen on January 16th, 2015, as she left the Meskwaki Bingo casino and has not been heard from since.
Meskwaki Nation Police Chief Jacob Molitor said investigators are trying to figure out who had the phone number (641) 481-6004 or (641) 351-0188 in 2015 and beyond.
"Ask around and check each other's phones," a new flier released Monday by the Meskwaki Nation Police Department said. "Together, we can bring Rita home."
There is currently a $75,000 reward for information in hopes it will entice someone to come forward. Over the years, multiple searches of the 20 square mile settlement have come up empty. Chief Molitor said he is working closely with the FBI on the case.
Papakee's family is holding tight to memories and clinging to hope. They believe someone in the community knows something and hope they are willing to come forward.
Papakee was born on June 1st, 1973. She is 5′ 4″, with brown eyes, long brown hair and was about 145 pounds at the time of her disappearance.
If you have any information about who had the two phone numbers, call or text Chief Molitor at 641-481-6002. You can also anonymously share information with the Meskwaki Police Department by texting their anonymous tip line (641) 481-0840.
