Over $200,000 awarded to Iowa’s Sac & Fox Tribe for affordable housing

WASHINGTON D.C., (KWWL) — The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) announced a $237,215 award today for the Sac & Fox Tribe of the Mississippi in Iowa.

This was part of the $652 million in Indian Housing Block Grant (IHBG) funding for eligible Native American Tribes and Tribally Designate Housing Entities (TDHEs) for affordable housing in tribal communities.

"The IHBG program supports the commitment of Tribes across the country to their communities through funding affordable housing and housing activities,"

"The U.S. government has a responsibility to carry out trust obligations to Indian tribes, and with this funding, HUD is acting to meet these obligations."
