Peosta pilot involved in Clayton County plane crash leaves with minor injuries

CLAYTON COUNTY, Iowa (KWWL) — At around 8 a.m. Friday, the Clayton County Sheriff went to investigate a reported plane crash at the intersection of Pumpkin Ridge and Omega Roads.

Investigators say that on Wednesday, Feb. 24 at about 4 p.m., a 1963 single engine Cessna tried to make an emergency landing on Omega Road. The plane struck a snow bank and overturned coming to rest in a field.

44-year-old pilot Joseph Bolton (Peosta) and passenger 43-year-old Eric Harbaugh (Russell, KS) only had minor injuries and required no medical attention.

The crash was reported to FAA at the time of the crash and is working with the Clayton County Sheriff's Office to continue investigating.
