DALLAS, Texas (Iowa) -- Two people in Cedar Rapids are teaming up to help Texans in need after last week's devastating winter storm.
Last year, Willie Fairley, the owner of the barbecue eatery, Willie Ray's Q Shack,' gave out thousands of free meals to people in Cedar Rapids following the derecho.
Brandon Jackson is the founder of 'Dreeam Sports,' a non-profit organization that provides youth with sports activities, mentorship and events in Cedar Rapids.
Jackson and Fairley decided to travel to Texas to give people food, water and supplies.
"Just like how the derecho affected us here in Iowa, Texas has been hit by a storm that has many residents without electricity, gas and water. With your help, we would like to do our part by driving there and giving away free food, supplies and water! Anything that you are able to donate we would greatly accept and appreciate!-- 'Dreeam Sports' Facebook post
The pair arrived in Dallas Saturday morning.
Their posts on social media show they're giving away free ribs, hot dogs, chips and water.
