Creating new business and employment opportunities for African Americans are just two of many goals of the 24/7 Black Leadership Advancement Consortium in the Cedar Valley.

The local group organized after a 2018 24/7 Wall Street article named Waterloo as the worst place in the country to be an African American.

The 24/7 Black Leadership group has been working to end racial inequalities and close the gap on the many economic disparities highlighted in the 2018 article.

Some of their key areas of concern include racial inequality, poverty, unemployment, lack of home ownership, and lack of opportunities.

Their efforts also include grooming and developing young African American leaders in the Cedar Valley.

Six members of the 24/7 Black Leadership team talk about their ongoing work for this week's edition of The Steele Report
