(CNN) — Stick a fork in it!
Saturday is National Pasta Day and the perfect excuse to twirl it and cover it in sauce!
Noodles are popular in many cuisines, but pasta is native to Italy, first appearing in 1154.
Although Americans seem to have adopted it as a beloved entrée.
It is often smothered and covered in marinara or alfredo sauce and just about any kind of meat or vegetable you can imagine.
So boil a pot and toss in your favorite variety, be it fettuccine, rigatoni, or penne.
And top it any way you like. You can't go wrong — it is National Pasta Day after all.
