JOHNSON COUNTY, Iowa (KWWL) -- Registered voters in Johnson County can drop off completed mail-in ballots in Iowa City.
Instead of mailing their ballots back, voters can drop their ballots of in drop boxes located south of the Johnson County Administration Building, 913 S. Dubuque Street, Iowa City. These boxes will be available 24 hours a day, seven days a week until polls close at 9 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 3.
The boxes are positioned in opposite lanes so that either a driver or a passenger can drop off ballots. Both boxes are locked, secure, under surveillance and checked multiple times a day.
“We wanted to provide an additional early voting opportunity for Johnson County residents beyond drive-through and satellite locations,” Travis Weipert, Johnson County Auditor said. “The drop boxes provide a safe, no-contact option. Thousands of Johnson County voters have already used them since they were installed on Tuesday, Oct. 6.”
The Johnson County Auditor’s Office recommends dropping off ballots as soon as possible so voters can be contacted if there are any issues with a ballot.
Drive-through voting is also available at the Johnson County Health and Human Services building parking ramp located at 855 S. Dubuque Street, Iowa City.
