Suspect arrested for Cedar Rapids shooting

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (KWWL) — The Cedar Rapids Police Department responded to a shooting incident at Cedar River Landing, 301 F Avenue NW, at 11:17 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 2.

The suspect left prior to officers arriving on scene.

Through an ongoing investigation and evidence collected at the scene, the Police Department was able to identify a suspect in the shooting.

Investigators learned that the shooting suspect was residing at 1311 Oakland Road NE and executed a search warrant at 10:25 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 14.

The suspect, identified as 29-year-old Johnny Mack Hill, Jr., was located inside the apartment and taken into custody.

Police found Methylenedioxymethamphetamine (MDMA, also known as Ecstasy/Molly), marijuana, two stolen handguns and another handgun, ammunition, scales, packaging, cash, and prescription pills inside the apartment.

Hill was arrested for Carrying Weapons (2 counts), Felon in Possession of a Firearm (3 counts), Going Armed with Intent, Intimidation with a Dangerous Weapon, Reckless Use of a Firearm, Trafficking in Stolen Firearms (2 counts), Possession of a Controlled Substance with Intent to Deliver-Marijuana, Possession of a Controlled Substance with Intent to Deliver-MDMA, Drug Tax Stamp Violation-Marijuana, Drug Tax Stamp Violation-MDMA, Possession of a Prescription Drug, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.

Hill was transported to the Linn County Jail.

Another individual inside the apartment, identified as Jerome Bradley, age 29, was arrested for Disorderly House.  He was allegedly a guest at the apartment.
