DUBUQUE, Iowa (KWWL) ---- The eastbound detour into Illinois from Dubuque will no longer be needed, according to project management.
Hugh Holak with Manchester Resident Construction Offices says the eastbound lane on Julien Bridge will reopen as early as today, but "should be done today [Thursday] or at least by Friday."
The eastbound lane has been closed from 7 a.m. or earlier until 3 p.m., Monday through Friday, ever since work began there on June 1.
Crews have been working to install 2 layers of fence along one side of the bridge, to ensure safe travel across its pedestrian bridge.
The announcement comes after a string of missed completion goals in August and September.
Minturn, Inc. out of Brooklyn, Iowa was the construction company on the project.
