HACAP merges with non-profit agency to expand services in 3 counties

HIAWATHA, Iowa (KWWL) – The Hawkeye Area Community Action Program (HACAP) has announced its merger with Operation: New View Community Action Agency.

This will allow HACAP to expand services in Dubuque, Delaware and Jackson counties. Until now, HACAP has served six eastern Iowa counties: Linn, Jones, Johnson, Benton, Iowa and Washington.

While the merger indicates change, many programs will stay in place.

"HACAP plans on continuing current Operation: New View’s programs such as LIHEAP, the home energy heating program, CACFP, the meal program for childcare providers and Weatherization services which provides small home improvements to low-income families that help reduce their utility costs," a news release said.

Additionally, all Operation: New View's employees will have positions with HACAP.

In August, KWWL reported HACAP Head Start had received $2.2M to expand early childhood education services in Dubuque, Delaware, and Jackson counties.
