Cedar Falls special education teacher takes home ‘Tools for Schools’ award

CEDAR FALLS, Iowa (KWWL) - One lucky eastern Iowa teacher has won this month's 'Tools for Schools' grant.

Lori Engel is a special education teacher at Peete Junior High School. From students to para-professionals, she is using her grant money to purchase more Chrome Books for her class.

During a time where we must stay socially distant, Engel said it has been hard for students as well as 'paras' to work and understand material together. With the Chrome Books 'sharing' feature, she said it would help her class tremendously during these times.

"It's especially critical at this time with physical distancing this will allow the para and the student to each have their own device and work on the same document together and be safe," Engel said.

The 'Cedar Valley Tools For Schools' Program is a partnership between KWWL and Green State Credit Union.
