Recent rainfall improves Iowa’s drought conditions

No surprise here, but the recent US Drought Monitor this morning shows quite an improvement across the state.

Last week's rain took the state from 95% "Abnormally Dry" one week ago to roughly 78% this week.

The "Extreme Drought" situation in central and western Iowa has been eliminated.

There is little to no rain in the forecast over the next 7 to 10 days. The first half of the month was wet. Here is a look at the rainfall totals compared to normal for Waterloo, Dubuque, Cedar Rapids and Iowa City:
