UPDATE 9/2 (KWWL) -- The Eastern Iowa Airport will actually get $19.3 million in federal grants to reconstruct the taxiway.

The Trump administration is awarding more than $1.2 billion in airport safety and infrastructure grants through the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) to 405 airports across the country.

The Eastern Iowa Airport was notified on Tuesday that they would get even more money from the FAA than was originally announced.

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (KWWL) - The Eastern Iowa Airport (CID) is getting big help from federal grants to reconstruct the taxiway, at the tune of $13.7 million.

The grants are provided by the U.S. Department of Transportation. One is $13.1 million and the other is $601,174.

“This important taxiway infrastructure project augments recent terminal improvements and upgrades, making the airport more competitive and efficient and better serving Iowa travelers, while creating good-paying construction jobs in the process," Congresswoman Abby Finkenauer stated in a news release.
