(NBC) -- The Big Ten Conference announced earlier this month that they would not play football this fall, but there are reports that a return to play in 2020 may still happen.
According to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, a January return to football plan may be pushed up earlier with games starting the week of Thanksgiving. The earlier start is reportedly a push being made by some coaches.
Big Ten Commissioner Kevin Warren has been criticized by players and parents for acting too quickly to cancel the fall season. Eight players from The University of Nebraska have also filed a lawsuit to have the decision to cancel the season overturned.
While the Big Ten reconsiders playing, the ACC, SEC and Big 12 conferences plan to play football as scheduled starting next month.
