WATERLOO(KWWL)--Regis Baskerville says he's ready for the challenge.

After 7 years as a Cedar Falls assistant and three at East – Baskerville is now running the show and likes what he's seen in early practices.

Waterloo East Head Coach Regis Baskerville, "We're going to continue to build off what we did, just get these guys to buy in to what we're doing, trusting the process, and I'm excited about this year."

Fueling that excitement is the return of K'Juan Owens who flirted with the thousand yard mark in his sophomore season – and for him – building on last year's 3-win season takes a simple philosophy

East Junior K'Juan Owens, "Win each day. That's pretty much it. Win each day, win the next day, day on then win games."

"We go where he goes. The team follows him and that's what we're going to do this year."

And this year – everything's bigger – the Trojans bring back bigger bodies on the line – and bigger numbers all around – they still need to find a quarterback to step up for the now-graduated Dylan Reyes but Baskerville likes the potential --

"The team is bonding together, coming together as brothers. Got some things to work on, we're not perfect, it's early in the season, early in the camp right now. We're fixing the things we need to work on and we're ready to go."
