MARION, Iowa (KWWL) - As a result of the storm Monday, a tree fell into a church in Marion.
Marion Christian Church suffered severe damage. The tree was only feet away from the building before it was knocked over. Almost the whole tree can be found on top of the building.
A deacon at the church said that the church is currently closed to the staff. An engineer was called and will hopefully begin repairs soon.
Neighbors of the church also experienced damage to their homes as a result of fallen trees.
"It's been a domino effect and it's not just your tree fell, it's their tree and their tree and their tree…so it's basically a big web of mess back there," Marion resident, Jessica Lightly, said.
Power lines and traffic lights all across the area are still out causing back-ups at intersections.
Electric companies were out in the streets attempting to restore power as quick as they can, as areas in Marion have been facing outages for days.
