UPS plans to issue price hike for holiday shipping

(NBC) -- UPS plans to impose substantial fees during the holiday season, according to a Wall Street Journal report.

The fees could be as high as three dollars per package for ground shipments and up to four dollars per package for air shipments.

The Wall Street Journal reported the planned fees come as UPS and rival Fed-Ex are trying to offset the cost of a surge in online orders.

UPS has already imposed additional fees on large shippers and has raised prices on some customers.
