WATERLOO, Iowa (KWWL) - With schools' starting up here shortly, families may need help finding supplies or uniforms. Luckily, there's one organization that can help. It's called Eye of the Needle.
Founder and president, Patricia King, said the organization has had a uniform drive for over ten years. Although the pandemic has lead to different 'return-to-learn' plans, she still wants to help set students up for success.
"We started doing that to help kids be able to be successful," Kind said, "and to help people who may be frustrated otherwise to get uniforms and get what they need to where to school."
During this time, King told "KWWL" her parking lot is usually full of families who wait the last minute to get school uniforms and supplies. But with COVID-19 in the equation, she had to make safety changes to her system.
"With COVID, they cannot wait till the last minute. Last year our parking lot was full because all the people waited the last minute, but with COVID they can't do it."
Only serving one person per family, King is requiring the following:
- call ahead and make an appointment
- know your kids' sizes before calling
- stay in your car during pick up
King told "KWWL" these are extra steps, but it's the way it has to be.
"With COVID they cannot wait till the last minute, last year our parking lot was full because all the people waited the last minute, but with COVID they can't do it."
Upon arrival, you need:
- social security card
- income for the year
- uniform sizes
