Drought conditions worsen in Iowa

The latest US Drought Monitor was released this morning, and it's not good news for the state.

Last week, 62.84% of the state was at least abnormally dry, but this week it's up to 79.61%. The percentage of moderate drought areas is also up from 32.58% to 34.27%. Severe drought areas rose to 15.68% from 12.82%.

Iowa now has an "Extreme Drought" in 6.2% of the state.

Fortunately, there are some rain chances in the forecast over the next 10 days. Our best chance will be Saturday morning, then again Sunday night into Monday.
