One injured in Mount Vernon chase

CEDAR RAPIDS (KWWL) - One person has non-life-threatening injuries following a chase through Linn County to Mount Vernon.

Police say they tried stopping a red Chevy Impala, for reported drug use, in the area of Highway One and Business Highway 30. The vehicle sped off, initiating the pursuit.

The vehicle pursuit ended in the 400 block of 6th St. NW after the driver lost control, crashed through a garage and hit a car. The Impala hit two more cars as it entered another driveway.

The suspect, described as a white male, has not been located.

A passenger in the vehicle, 34-year-old Andrea Barfels, remained on scene and was taken to the hospital.

Editors note, a previous version of this story misidentified the location of this crash in Cedar Rapids rather than Mount Vernon.
