CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (KWWL) -- On Friday morning, the Cedar Rapids Civil Service Commission decided the format for Lucas Jones' appeal hearing.
Jones is the former Cedar Rapids Police Sergeant who was fired on June 18. The Cedar Rapids Police Department cited six violations that appear to stem from an October 30, 2016, traffic stop.
Jones and his attorney, Skylar Limkemann, believe the firing was politically motivated.
Now, Jones will get his chance to appeal the firing.
The Commission decided to hold his appeal virtually, citing health concerns during the pandemic.
The Commission will convene the hearing with a court reporter on August 5 and then reconvene on August 18.
