Waterloo Schools release mask guidelines for upcoming academic year

WATERLOO, Iowa (KWWL) -- The school year is just about one month away.

The Waterloo Community School District plans to begin in-person instruction beginning the week of August 24. High schools may have a combination of in-person and remote learning.

Due to masks being required for students and staff as part of in-person instruction, the district is sharing the following mask guidelines:

  • Masks will be provided by the district for students and staff. A minimum of two masks will be provided for each staff member and student.
  • Masks can be brought from home as long as they cover the nose and mouth. Patterns will be allowed (for example, plaid, tie-dye, polka dot, floral, etc.), but no images, graphics that are disruptive or offensive, slogans or phrases will be allowed unless it’s a school mascot/name.
  • Clear masks and plastic face shields will be allowed.
