CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (KWWL) -- After a 20-year-old man was shot and killed during a party in June, reward money is being increased to help find information to bring his killer to justice.

Malik Sheets, 20, died at a hospital after being shot at least once in his upper body around 5 a.m. on June 18th in the 1000 block of Regent Street NE.

According to CRPD's preliminary investigation, there appeared to have been a large party inside the residence, an argument ensued, and shots were fired.

Police said the shooting appeared to be a targeted incident.

$7,600 reward is being offered in addition to $2,500 offered through the Linn County Crime Stoppers for the arrest and conviction of the person or people responsible for his murder.

Friends and Family of Sheets started a GoFundMe and "In Memory of Malik Sheets" Facebook page to help raise money to help solve his murder and hold the person(s) responsible.

Sheets' death marked the 8th homicide in Cedar Rapids this year.
