Iowa City splash pads staying open

IOWA CITY, Iowa (KWWL) — Iowa City is reporting that the splash pads are staying open despite many City facilities that are closed during COVID-19. This includes the City Park Pool and recreation centers. Picnic shelters at City parks are open on a first come, first serve basis.

The Wetherby splash pad is staying closed due to construction at the Wetherby Park. The City is reminding people to use social distancing guidelines when visiting splash pads. It is reported that like playgrounds, the splash pads are not sanitized.

The splash pads at Fairmeadows Park and Tower Court Park are open daily until 8 p.m. and have no fee. It is reported that the Weatherdance Fountain in the Downtown Pedestrian Mall is open as well.
