The Cedar Rapids Salvation Army announced Flood the Run will go virtual

CEDAR RAPIDS (KWWL) -- The Salvation Army from Cedar Rapids announced that their annual Flood the Run event, a water-themed run/walk, will be going virtual this year.

“To ensure the health and safety of all our participants and volunteers, the committee made the difficult decision to present this year’s event as a virtual challenge,” Corps Officer Major Allan Hellstrom said in the news release. “A virtual event is an opportunity to still capture the fun with family and friends while raising funds that will continue to help those in need in our community.”

Registration is currently open. Once they're registered, participants can engage in weekly social media challenges by submitting a short video, with one $25 gift card winner every week.

The news release stated that all the funds raised from the event will be used to support The Salvation Army’s food, financial assistance and youth programs in Linn County.
