Man arrested after high-speed chase through Waterloo

WATERLOO, Iowa (KWWL) -- One man is in jail after he allegedly led police on a high-speed chase through a residential area in Waterloo.

On Monday at about 1:00 p.m., a Waterloo officer attempted to pull over Anthony Deckard, 30, of Waterloo, at Ansborough and W Ridgeway Avenue, in reference to fraudulent use of registration, driver with a valid nationwide warrant and barred driver's license.

Waterloo Police said Deckard sped away from officers, reaching speeds of more than 70 miles per hour. Police stopped the pursuit for safety reasons.

A short time later, officers found Deckard parked on Langley Road.

They arrested him and took him to Black Hawk County Jail.

Deckard is facing several charges including: Registration - Fraudulent Use, Reckless Driving, Speeding/Clear Distance, Failure to Obey Stop and Yield, Habitual Off/Barred, and Eluding Police.
