Cedar Rapids fire hydrants in city parks to be turned on for water play

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (KWWL) - Fire hydrants in Cedar Rapids will be turned on for water play periodically throughout the remainder of this summer.

The Cedar Rapids Fire Department will turn water on at Rollin' Recmobile stops at Cherry Hill, Delaney and Bever Parks. This will be for a one to two our period when the temperature is above 80 degrees Fahrenheit and there is no severe weather threat.

In addition, staff from the Parks and Recreation Department will ensure that social distancing guidelines are followed.

The following parks have been selected because they do not have splash pads.

Cherry Hill Park


  • June 30th: 6:00 - 8:00 p.m.
  • Remaining Tuesdays through August 11th: 5:00 - 6:00 p.m.

Delaney Park


  • July 1st: 6:00 - 8:00 p.m.
  • Remaining Wednesdays through August 12th: 5:00 - 6:00 p.m.

Bever Park


July 3rd through August 14th: 9:30 - 10:30 a.m.
