CEDAR FALLS (KWWL) -- Cedar Falls used a massive first inning as the Tigers topped No. 6 Western Dubuque 12-3 on Thursday night. That salvaged a split after the Bobcats won the opener 14-6

After falling behind 1-0 in the top of the first inning, the Tigers broke out the big sticks in the bottom half. Gage Flanscha opened the scoring with a no-doubt, two-run home run to left field. That started off an inning that saw twelve batters come to the plate. That included a second at-bat for Flanscha as he capped an eight-run inning with a two-RBI single in to left.

Flanscha also picked up the win, throwing six innings while allowing three runs.
