IOWA CITY, Iowa (KWWL) - A 20-year-old man who was arrested earlier this month for violating his probation while organizing protests in Iowa City has reached a plea deal with the Johnson County attorney, his lawyers say.

Mazin Mohamedali's lawyers say they've gotten 5 of his 6 charges dropped and he will plead guilty to a simple misdemeanor charge of disorderly conduct with time served.

His legal team says a felony charge for second-degree criminal mischief from University of Iowa Police is one of the charges being dropped.

Mohamedali was arrested Sunday June 7 for unlawful assembly and disorderly conduct on the night of June 3. He was on probation for second-degree robbery.
