Hawkeye Head Football Coach Kirk Ferentz responds to Former black players critical of program

IOWA CITY(KWWL)--Iowa Head Football Coach Kirk Ferentz released a statement late tonight responding to some of his former players critical of the program.

Former All-Big 10 Center James Daniels started a string of tweets by several former African-American players.

In his tweet, Daniels now a member of the Chicago Bears said. "There are too many racial disparities in the Iowa football program. Black players have been treated unfairly for far too long.

At least ten former black players including current Tennessee Titans Safety Amani Hooker. "I remember whenever walking into the facility it would be difficult for black players to walk around the facility and be themselves. As if the way you grew up was the wrong way or wasn’t acceptable & that you would be judge by that and it would impact playing time."

After nearly two hours of the tweets Ferentz released this statement.
