Two men arrested in Thursday’s shooting incident at Cedar Rapids apartment

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (KWWL) -- Cedar Rapids Police said two men are in custody after a shooting incident Thursday evening.

They received a report of shots fired in the 2100 block of North Towne Court NE on Thursday around 5:51 p.m.

When officers arrived on scene, they found shell casings outside the apartment building. They did not find any damage.

Witnesses told police two men ran into a unit in the apartment.

Police went to the unit and found two men that matched the description of the suspects. Both suspects were arrested.

Officers found two firearms inside the unit.

Sedrick Mac Johnson Jr., 23, of Chicago, and Kendall J. Willis, 25, of Chicago, were arrested for Reckless Use of a Firearm, Carrying Weapons, and Felon in Possession of a Firearm.

Cedar Rapids Police determined one of the handguns was stolen.
