WATERLOO, Iowa (KWWL) -- In his final days, U.S. Army Veteran James Earl Myers was met with a loud salute from his community.

Referred to as a "Thunder Salute," the AmVets Riders of Cedar Falls and other community members drove by Myers' home last Wednesday as a way to thank him for his service while he battled brain cancer.

Adhering to social distancing, the crowd revved their bikes and engines to show Myers' the support he deserved. Before his diagnosis, Myers had been a rider participating in similar salutes.

Sadly, a post on the group's Facebook page indicated that Myers' battle with cancer ended this weekend.

Praise for his service and the salute can be seen throughout various posts on the Facebook page which you can find here.
