UPDATE: At the April 23rd news conference, Black Hawk County health officials announcing Black Hawk County now up to 622 COVID-19 cases.
That is the most in the state, and the first county to have more than 600 cases.
Officials also announced 7 deaths in the county.
(KWWL) -- As of Wednesday, Black Hawk County has the most COVID-19 cases in the state of Iowa at 511.
This is according to the Black Hawk County Health Department and not the Iowa Department of Public Health, which is reporting delayed cases.
The health department ranks the counties with the most cases as:
- Black Hawk: 511
- Linn: 469
- Polk: 438
- Johnson: 396
Wednesday morning, Tyson Foods announced they will be indefinitely closing their Waterloo plant. The outbreak at the plant has been the main cause of the spike in Black Hawk County cases.
