Jean Oxley, former Linn County Supervisor, dies at age 94

LINN COUNTY, Iowa (KWWL) – The first woman elected to to a Linn County public office has died.

Jean Oxley, 94, died Sunday according to a Facebook post by her granddaughter, Breanna Oxley.

Oxley was the first women ever to be elected to the Linn County Board of Supervisors in 1972 and would serve until 1996. Following the floods of 2008, the Linn County Public Service Center was named after her in 2010 upon its completion.

Due to current social distancing guidelines, the family is still working out arrangements.
