Business group encourages buying local with gift cards

IOWA CITY, Iowa (KWWL) - The Iowa City Downtown District is offering gift cards to people who shop locally (safely) during the coronavirus outbreak.

The district, a nonprofit representing over 300 businesses in the Iowa City area, is giving people a $25 gift card when they spend $100 at any of their member stores. Shoppers can also get a $150 gift card when they spend $500.

The district is encouraging people to use store's websites or safe options like getting food delivered.

All a shopper needs to do is fill out this form after a purchase.
