CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (KWWL) -- A spokesman for Heritage Specialty Care in Cedar Rapids says four residents have tested positive for COVID-19. This comes after two staff members at the facility tested positive for the virus earlier this week.
Details on the exact conditions of the four residents are not available at this time. All four residents have been isolated from the rest of the resident population and will remain isolated for at least 14 days.
Staff at the facility have been communicating with the Iowa Department of Public Health about the positive tests and are following their recommendations.
Residents are being screened two times per day for fever and respiratory illness. For more than two weeks, employees have been screened for fever and respiratory illness upon entering the building and no visitors have been allowed.
Communal dining and activities were also suspended last week. Staff, residents and family members are being notified by Heritage administration of the positive cases. Family members of residents are asked to call 319-396-7171 with any questions.
