Daily Digit: 1948

On March 25, 1948, the first tornado forecast was made. It was for Tinker Air Force Base, Oklahoma. Just five days earlier another tornado moved through the same area. The conditions on March 25 were about the same and so Air Force Captain Robert Miller and Major Ernest Fawbush decided to forecast another tornado. A tornado did develop and it moved through Tinker Air Force Base, Oklahoma and caused significant damage.
