Amana Whirlpool temporarily closing after employee tests positive for COVID-19

AMANA, Iowa (KWWL) -- The Whirlpool Corporation's facility in Amana will temporarily close after one employee tested positive for the coronavirus.

The company says that employee has not been in the plant since March 17th but did reportedly have close contact with another employee who was subsequently sent home.

"The health and safety of our employees and the Amana community is our top priority, and out of an abundance of caution we are temporarily closing the Amana facility effective immediately," the company wrote in part to KWWL.

They'll continue to evaluate if any other employees may have come in contact with those two employees and a deep cleaning of the plant will be performed in accordance with CDC guidelines.
