Where can my kid get lunch? Eastern Iowa school meal locations

As Eastern Iowa copes with closings due to the coronavirus outbreak, many schools are offering meals to kids. Find meal pick-up sites for different school districts below. If your school district is not listed, and you have locations and times for meal pick-ups, please email us at news@kwwl.com.

Cedar Rapids Community School District

Students can get a hot lunch and breakfast intended for the following day between 10:30 a.m. and 1 p.m. on Monday through Friday starting Monday, March 23.

Locations include:
Nixon Elementary
Arthur Elementary
Grant Elementary
Grant Wood Elementary
Hoover Elementary
Wright Elementary
Cedar River Academy at Taylor
Johnson Elementary
Roosevelt Creative Corridor Business Academy

Iowa City Community School District

Drive-through or walk-up sites providing both lunch for that day and breakfast for the following day. Families can pick up meals between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m.

Locations include:
City High School
Hills Elementary School
North Central Junior High School
Northwest Junior High School
Twain Elementary School
West High School
Wood Elementary School

In addition to the pick-up locations listed above, grab-and-go meals will be available for pickup at these locations:
Breckenridge Mobile Home Park

Dubuque Community Schools

Grab-and-go meals will be offered Monday-Friday for kids 18 and under beginning on March 23.

Locations include:
Audubon Elementary: 4:45 – 5:30 p.m. for dinner
Boys and Girls Club: 4:15 – 5:30 p.m. for dinner
Comiskey Park: 3:30 – 4:15 p.m. for dinner
Convivium: 11 a.m. – 2 p.m. for lunch
DREAM Center: 11 a.m. – 1 p.m.; 4 – 5:30 p.m. for breakfast and dinner
Hempstead High School: 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. for lunch and next-day breakfast
Hoover Elementary: 5:15 – 6: p.m. for dinner
Lincoln Elementary: 4:45 – 5:30 p.m. for dinner
Marshall Elementary: 3:30 – 4:15 p.m. for dinner
Prescott Elementary: 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. for lunch and next-day breakfast
Terrace Heights: 4:15 p.m. – 4:45 p.m. for dinner, 4001 Peru Road

Waterloo Schools

Beginning March 23, at any elementary school for children aged 18 or younger that are accompanied by parents. Offered Monday, Wednesday, Friday.

Cunningham: 9:00 a.m.-10:00 a.m
Kingsley: 9:00 a.m.-10:00 a.m
Orange: 9:00 a.m.-10:00 a.m
Highland: 10:00 a.m.-11:00 a.m
Kittrell: 10:00 a.m.-11:00 a.m
Becker: 11:00 a.m. - Noon
Lou Henry: 11:00 a.m. - Noon
Irving: Noon - 1:00 p.m.
Lincoln: Noon - 1:00 p.m.
Poyner: Noon - 1:00 p.m.
Education Service Center: 9:00 a.m. - Noon

Linn-Mar Community School District

Grab-and-go meals will be available each weekday, starting March 23, between 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

Starting March 24

Locations include:
Francis Marion: 10 a.m. to noon
Longfellow: 10 a.m. to noon
Starry: 10 a.m. to noon
Vernon Middle: 6:30 a.m. to 8 a.m.; 10 a.m. to noon

Grant Wood AEA

This includes Alburnette, Belle Plaine, Cedar Rapids, Center Point-Urbana, Clear Creek Amana, College Community, Iowa City, Iowa Valley, Linn-Mar, Monticello, Mount Vernon, Tipton, Vinton-Shellsburg, Washington Community, West Branch, and Williamsburg School Districts.

Cedar Valley Catholic schools

Cedar Valley Catholic Schools will offer free meal pick up at the Columbus Catholic High School campus located at 3231 West Ninth Street, Waterloo. 

Meal pick up is available Monday - Friday from 9am-11am at Columbus Door 21. Any student aged 0-18 is eligible for these free meals and must be present to pick up the meal.  

College Community Schools

College Community Schools has implemented GRAB N’ GO Meal Distribution program. Free meals regardless of income level for ALL children 18 years and under are now available at the following 9 locations Monday through Friday beginning Tuesday, March 24, 2020 until further notice. 

Locations include:

20 Miller Avenue SW (Old Casey’s and Hardees Parking Lots): 10:30 – 1:00 PM

Gateway Gardens (2981 6th Street SW): 10:30 – 1:00 PM

Prairie Hill Elementary School (College Community Campus): 10:30 – 1:00 PM

Ely City Park (1635 Hillcrest Street, near trail and pond): 10:30 – 1:00 PM

Grant Elementary School Cedar Rapids Schools (254 Outlook Drive SW): 10:30 – 1:00 PM

Hoover Elementary School Cedar Rapids Schools (4141 Johnson Avenue NW): 10:30 – 1:00 PM

Kohl’s Parking Lot (3030 Wiley Blvd. SW): 10:30 – 11:30 AM
