River level update: Sunday 3/22/2020

Rivers are currently running high with minor flooding occurring on the Cedar River in Cedar Falls and numerous area rivers in the action stage, including the Mississippi, Cedar River near Waterloo, North Skunk River near Sigourney, Iowa River near Marengo and Belle Plaine, West Fork Cedar River near Finchford, Shell Rock River near Shell Rock, and Turkey River near Elgin. The action stage means that the rivers are at the top or near their banks but no flooding or very minor flooding is occurring.

The rivers are still on the rise thanks to last week's rain and are set to crest soon or within the next few days for most area rivers. Here are the highest stages expected over the week.

There will be a slow rise along the Mississippi river and Iowa river where minor flooding is expected to occur.

Minor flooding is ongoing in Cedar Falls:

Moderate flooding is expected along the Mississippi in the Quad Cities area and downstream.

More precipitation is expected this week with rain/snow today followed by likely rain chances on Tuesday and Wednesday. There will be a slight chance for rain on Thursday and Friday.

Over an inch of rain may fall over the next 7 days, keeping rivers on the higher side.

You can always monitor the river levels here.
