Driver leads Linn Co. Sheriff’s deputies on chase after apparent attempted burglary, still on the loose

LINN COUNTY, Iowa (KWWL) -- The Linn County Sheriff's Office is investigating a Saturday night car chase.

Deputies attempted to pull over a Ford F550 around 11:55 p.m.

The Sheriff's Office said the driver reportedly attempted to burglarize a home in rural Springville. When deputies activated their emergency lights, the driver sped away.

The pursuit went through eastern portions of Linn County before entering Jones County. The pursuit then continued into portions of western Jones County before reentering Linn County. The pursuit ended when the driver allegedly drove through a field near Fir Ave SE Cedar Rapids near the Prairie Park Fishery.

The driver got out of the pick-up truck and ran away, according to deputies.

The Sheriff's Office said they searched the area and could not find the driver or the only passenger.

After further investigation, deputies determined the pick-up truck was stolen out of Cedar Rapids.

The Linn County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Iowa State Patrol, Cedar Rapids, Mt Vernon, Lisbon, Marion, Anamosa and Monticello Police Departments, as well as the Jones County Sheriff’s Office.
