(NBC)--The United States' border with Canada is now closed to nonessential travel. The closure went into effect at midnight on Friday. President Trump says the move won't impact trade or other essential traffic.
Anyone traveling for education, medical, or work purposes will be allowed to cross. The order also includes emergency responders and government officials traveling with their families to cross the U.S. Canada border.
Officials say the closure will be reviewed in 30 days.
