5K for La Porte City man fighting cancer postponed until September due to coronavirus concerns

DYSART, Iowa (KWWL) - A 5K planned to take place in Dysart to help a La Porte City man who is fighting cancer has been postponed due concerns regarding the coronavirus.

The Fighting 4 Feuerbach 5K, which was scheduled for Saturday, March 28, is now being moved to September 19.

In September, Matt Feuerbach, a John Deere employee, had a seizure. His wife, Zoie, took him to a hospital where a spot on his brain was found. Further testing in Iowa City confirmed the spot was a tumor.

Feuerbach's tumor was removed weeks later. But soon, he was diagnosed with Grade III Anaplastic Oligodendroglioma. The treatment? Seven weeks of radiation, along with three forms of chemotherapy.

The 5K comes on the heels of a very successful fundraiser for Feuerbach and his family in February.

Visit the event Facebook page to register and be involved.
