DES MOINES (KWWL) -- Cedar Falls came close, but an early hole proved too big as the two-time defending champs fell to Ankeny 71-56 in the class 4A semifinal round.

Trey Campbell led Cedar Falls with a 16 point effort. Senior guard Josh Ollendieck added 11 points in the effort. Jordan Kumm scored 18 to lead Ankeny.

The Tigers got off to a rough start, falling behind 30-10 early in the second quarter. They responded with a 14-0 run to pull within six.

The second half, however, saw them again fall in a 20 point hole, and a late rally came up short as their title streak is set to come to an end.
