Customer intervened in gas station robbery, 15-year-old charged

MARION, Iowa (KWWL) -- A 15-year-old juvenile is being charged for robbery after attempting to steal from a Marion gas station.

The juvenile's identity is not being released. The teen was arrested and charged with second-degree robbery (a C class felony) and assault with injury (a serious misdemeanor).

Police were called to the Kum n' Go in the 3000 block of 7th Ave in Marion around 6:48 pm on Monday night for a robbery.

Upon arrival, officers found the 15-year-old being held by a customer who witnessed the robbery, intervened, and then physically held onto the suspect until police arrived, according to police.
